Simple Defense For Simply People
By CD Simon Tr.

Dr. Karl William Marx (Senior), PhD, inventor of the first "American Karate" system was not always big and strong. As a child he was small for his age, and being smart was reason enough for bullies to want to beat him up. He knows how victims feel and the helplessness they experience. Something inside him made him use his intelligence to size up and defeat his opponents. That special something in his mind is what led him to win all but one of 350 or more fights!

Keichu-Do Karate has been designed by a true expert at self-defense, and the methods are street tested and proven. Do you need to be another genius to defend yourself? Nope, you just need to be willing to learn. Keichu-Do Karate is purposely designed for the little guy, women, even handicapped and the blind! It's not about hype, it's about creating pain for anyone who attacks you, and delibitating them very quickly. Keichu-Do Karate is not the art of attack, it is the art of self-defense for any person. Often called "Cajun Karate" or "Cajun self-defense" because it was invented in the swamps of Louisiana, this uniquely special American form of fighting uses some of the simplest methods and yet is so effective that students of Keichu-Do have won many world championships in Karate tournaments.

Self-defense starts with a different way of thinking, of becoming aware of subtle threats, big threats, true threats, and threats which can be avoided or situations that could be defused with a change of behavior. There are many things which lead to a situation where a person will need to defend themself, yet avoiding unwise patterns of behavior can rule out many such situations to begin with. Self-defense is also an ongoing process, a way of life if you will. Certainly there is the physical aspect of Karate where stretching, keeping fit, and maintaining good health will assist one in practicing Karate moves. And it's never just magic that will happen without some amount of dedication. We do need to put in some hours, some time has to be allocated for the exercises. But don't we (Americans) need that anyway? The health benefits of various forms of exercise alone will give us a greater sense of well-being and increase our confidence in daily life.

When a person walks with confidence they are less apt to be targeted by "the scum of the earth" (to quote Jackie Chan from one of his movies). When a practicioner of Keichu-Do is attacked, they will be more likely than an untrained person, to respond automatically from their training and to respond with speed and confidence. Often the intense defense (and pain) will shock an attacker who thinks some normal looking person is an easy target!

We're not kidding when we say that Soke Karl has taught handicapped people and the blind. A wheelchair does not stop a person from defending themself, low IQ does not stop one from learning Keichu-Do, and blind people are trained to use ambidexterous self-defense because they cannot see whether their attacker is right or left handed. If women, children, short people, and the handicapped can learn Keichu-Do self-defense, everyone who actually wants to learn can do it!

So give yourself some credit, get into an authorized school and learn from an authorized teacher of Keichu-Do, or order the videos or DVDs and practice at your own pace at home. But whatever you do, don't ever be a victim again! Take charge of your own defense, even police will tell you that it's up to victims to protect themselves. You don't ever have to fear anyone again, not if you will give some time and effort to your own education and practice.

Dr. Marx is recognized internationally as the authority concerning Keichu-Do. (Also see accreditation documents.)
